24 Road Assistance

Outside our opening hours, all calls are automatically redirected to 24 Road Assistance. Please be aware that only urgent matters will be addressed after hours.

Upon receiving a call for on-spot assistance, 24 Road Assistance requires a down payment of 15.000 ISK. This amount serves as a confirmation fee before sending help. After assessing the situation and determining the total cost, they will issue another payment link for the full amount.

It’s important to note that payments are ALWAYS between the renter and 24 Road Assistance, even if you have purchased our Roadside Assistance extra. In such cases, you are entitled to a full reimbursement for the help provided by 24 Road Assistance, as long as the incident falls within the terms of our Roadside Assistance extra.

You can reach out to us via WhatsApp or email us at info@cozycampers.is.

For Urgent On-Road Assistance, please call +(354) 771 5131

Malfunctions

If you encounter a malfunction with the camper, included items or extras you MUST report the problem as soon as it occurs. We reserve the right to arrange for the problem to be fixed during the rental period. If we are unable to fix the problem a compensation is given from the time the problem was reported. The compensation amount depends on the problem.

Note: If the renter refuses to follow the steps needed to get the problem fixed no compensation is given.

1. Vehicle breakdown If you experience a vehicle breakdown, please follow these guidelines depending on your situation:
   • Yellow / Orange light on the dashboard: No need to worry, you can continue your trip without any interference. It’s enough to let us know about the light when you return the camper.
   • Vehicle makes strange noises or drives / acts strangely: Call us so we can diagnose the issue and guide you through the next steps.
   • Red light on the dashboard: Stop the vehicle and call us right away! +(354) 771 5131
   • Vehicle stops working: Call us right away! +(354) 771 5131

When we receive a call regarding a vehicle breakdown the first step is to attempt to diagnose the issue and guide you through the solution. If we are unable to do so, we will need to arrange for you to visit the next workshop. If the issue is so severe that the vehicle can not be driven, it needs to be towed to the next workshop. If the workshop is unable to fix the vehicle it needs to be towed back to Reykjavik, in such cases another camper will be brought to you (if you only have a day or two left of your rental, alternative arrangements may be made).

How quickly the situation can be resolved depends on various factors such as but not limited to, the nature and severity of the issue, where you are located, how far the next workshop is from your location and how quickly they are able to fit us in.

   Compensation

   • Premium and Standard campers: No refund is given for loss of rental time for workshop visits that take 3 hours or less (refers to the time the vehicle is being worked on which appears on the workshop bill). After that time one day is refunded for each 24 hour period the camper is out of service. This compensation should be enough to cover the cost of a night at a hotel or guesthouse if needed.
   • Budget campers: No refund is given for loss of rental time for budget campers that need to visit a workshop or are out of service.

Please note that if the workshop declares that the vehicle broke down because of a damage that was caused to the vehicle, no compensation is given and the cost for the on-spot assistance, workshop diagnoses and vehicle repair is on the renters responsibility.

No insurance covers damages caused to the undercarriage or other mechanical parts of the vehicle.

2. Minor issues with the camper, included features and extras
3. Heater issues

Flat tire

In case you get a flat tire you have all the tools you need to change a tire in the camper. If you need assistance with changing a flat tire you can call us at +(354) 771 5131 and we will guide you through the process.

For on-spot assistance the following applies:

• If you have purchased our Roadside Assistance extra and are unable to change the tire yourself you can call us at +(354) 771 5131 and we will send someone in the area to assist you. Please note that the time it takes for help to arrive depends on where you are located.
• If you have NOT purchased our Roadside Assistance you will need to contact 24 Road Assistance at 24ra.is or by calling +(354) 419 2400 for help. Payments are between you and 24 Road Assistance.

Fixing or replacing a flat tire

When the flat tire has been changed you’ll need to head to the next workshop to get the flat tire fixed or replaced with a new tire if it cannot be fixed.

You can call us at +(354) 771 5131 for guidance or if you are not sure where the next tire workshop is located.

Note: For safety reasons we require the tire to be fixed or replaced as soon as possible.

Renters Cost:

• On-spot assistance with changing a flat tire *cost covered if you have purchased our Road Assistance extra.
• Flat tire fixed or replaced with a new tire if it cannot be fixed *cost covered if you have the tire protection or premium insurance.

WARNING: If you drive the camper on a flat tire that is considered gross negligence and any damage caused to the camper would be considered intentional and therefore NO insurance would cover such damages so you (the renter) would have to pay for the FULL damage cost.

Dead start battery

If you drain the start battery of your vehicle, it depends on the camper you have if you’ll need a jump-start or if the camper has a restart system.

• Premium and Standard campers: Have a restart system which means you can easily start the vehicle without needing a jump-start. Please call +(354) 771 5131 and we will guide you through the process.
• Budget campers: Most of our budget campers do not have the restart system and would therefore need a jump-start. You can find jump-start cables in all campers that do not have the restart system and so the quickest way to start the vehicle is to find someone around you to give you a jump-start.

For on-spot assistance the following applies:

• If you have purchased our Roadside Assistance extra and are unable to jump-start the vehicle yourself you can call us at +(354) 771 5131 and we will send someone in the area to assist you. Please note that the time it takes for help to arrive depends on where you are located.

• On-spot assistance with unlocking the camper *Cost covered if you have purchased our Roadside Assistance extra
• Accommodation if you cannot access the camper overnight due to a lockout.
• Vehicle damage cost in case of any damage that might occur during the unlocking process.

Incorrect refueling

In case you refill the camper with gasoline instead of diesel it’s very important you follow these steps:

1. Do NOT start the engine
2. Call us right away: +(354) 771 5131

What needs to be done: A specialized fuel drainage vehicle needs to be called out as all the fuel in the tank needs to be drained and refilled according to our protocol. If the drainage process is successful you can continue your trip.

If the vehicle engine was turned with the wrong fuel in the tank the situation is much more serious and will need alternative assessment:

• Engine started with the wrong fuel on the tank: If the engine was turned on with the wrong fuel on the tank it needs to be towed to the next workshop where the whole fuel system needs to be cleaned, this can take up to 24 hours. If the camper is declared damaged by the workshop it needs to be towed back to the Volkswagen / Renault agency in Reykjavik for further damage assessment.
• Vehicle driven with the wrong fuel on the tank: If the vehicle was driven with the wrong fuel on the tank it needs to be towed back to the Volkswagen / Renault agency in Reykjavik for a damage assessment.

Keep in mind that you may lose a day or two of your trip in this case. No refund is available for loss of rental time when the incident is on the renters responsibility.

Note: If the camper needs to be towed back to the Volkswagen / Renault agency in Reykjavik for a damage assessment we require a security deposit of 3.000 EUR for the vehicle damage cost.

Renters cost:

• Fuel drainage vehicle cost
• Towing / Vehicle transport cost (including if the camper needs to be towed back to Reykjavik) *Cost covered if you have purchased our Roadside Assistance extra
• Workshop fuel system cleaning cost

• Cleaning fee if you request a new camper (can only be done if the other camper needs to be towed back to Reykjavik)
• Damage assessment by the Volkswagen / Renault agency in Reykjavik
• Vehicle damage cost (no insurance covers such damages so the full cost is on the renters responsibility, which can be up to the full value of the vehicle if it is declared inoperable by the agency. We require a security deposit of 3.000 EUR while the vehicle is being assessed by the agency)
